Right after check-in, let yourself be carried away by the picturesque corners of our house as you prepare for a private guided tour of the pineapple production in our greenhouses.

About 3km from the center of Ponta Delgada but in the immensity of the calm of nature, Herdade do Ananás pays homage to the best of the Azores.

The rooms and suites were born from the careful rehabilitation of the 100-year-old sunny building that has always belonged to a family of merchants from the beginnings of the Azores trade, and which has always been in love with nature and the countryside.

With a vintage and elegant decoration, Herdade do Ananás maintains the soul that has always existed, respecting origin and time!

The hotel is 100% autonomous in the use of irrigation for its gardens and pineapple greenhouses. All the water that falls on the roofs, balconies and greenhouses of Herdade do Ananás is stored in a tank that later allows watering the gardens and pineapple greenhouses.The fruits grow in orchards that grow on rainwater alone, with no chemicals addes.

The hotel’s decoration is a combination of furniture that already exists in the family home that gave rise to the hotel. Existing furniture was purchased and other furniture was reused from other local houses and restaurants, guaranteeing the soul and history of Herdade do Ananás. Curtains are not used throughout the hotel, favoring the use of existing shutters, in order to reduce the ecological footprint, avoiding unnecessary washing of fabrics. We favor natural light, so all rooms have more than one window. All artificial lighting uses LED systems.

Customers are educated on reducing water consumption, disposable plastic (plastic straws are not used in the hotel) and reuse of towels. Fabrics are not used during meals at Herdade do Ananás in order to reduce washing and use of detergents. The body wash consumables available in the bathrooms are refillable. A sustainable attitude also includes the inclusion of suppliers and national and local entities in the tourist experience, in order to contribute to the development of the economy.
