It all started with a passion for a place discovered by chance (Chão do Rio) by a couple who are now a family…

Coming from urban lives but passionate about nature and with rurality in their childhood memories, it was in Chão do Rio, in Travancinha, that in 2001 they found a place that makes them feel whole, where smiles come from within. Happiness is lived in simple things, like what it feels like to plant a tree.

There they created the roots they didn’t have, and there they dream of one-day living!

Located in Seia, Chao do Rio – Turismo de Aldeia features rustic homes, as well as an outdoor biologic swimming pool and free bicycles. The traditional stone-built units are inserted in natural surroundings which include a garden and a flock of sheep.

The pet-friendly units all have a living area with a sofa, flat-screen TV and a CD player. All come with an equipped kitchenette, dining area and a private bathroom. The units feature a balcony and a terrace.

When guests arrive at the property, their kitchenette is already filled with breakfast items for their stay.
Fresh bread is delivered each day at 17:00 and guests may cook their own meals in the comfort of their own accommodations. In addition, meals can be served upon previous request. These meals are cooked at a restaurant in the vicinity.

Other facilities are provided, like a children’s playground, and laundry facilities. Communal barbecue facilities are also available in this 19-acre property, as well as an outdoor wood burning oven, an outdoor fireplace, a vegetable garden and a picnic area and farm animals.
